We are a pub first and foremost but our kitchen is open for lunch and dinner, seven days a week. Our food as fresh, local, simple, honest but, most of all, tasty.
We use a variety of local suppliers for our ingredients. All of our meat and poultry comes from a local farm, Our fruit and vegetables are supplied by a local farm shop. We buy our crab from a local fisherman. We only use fresh bread – baked daily for us. Our fish, mussels and scallops are delivered daily by our local fishmonger. We don't buy in ready made meals. We don't use microwaves. We just take the best quality local ingredients and prepare fresh food for you.
Lunch is a simple affair. Freshly made sandwiches and ploughmans, fish and chips, steak, mussels, scallops, crab and, of course, a killer ham, egg and chips. Our lunch menu changes from time to time but you might find dishes such as Crab Tagliatelle, Smoked Mackerel Rarebit, Pea Mint & New Potato Curry on the menu.
Dinner is a slightly more hearty affair. Scallops, for example, might be accompanied by a Tomato Beurre Blanc sauce or it might be with White Wine, Cream & Garlic. Mussels might be served with Cider & Bacon or possibly Tomato & Chilli. Our Chowder is popular too. We make it fresh using fish, prawns and mussels.
Fish features prominently on our menu but we've always got steak on the menu too. Our Sirloins are free range and from a local farm, cooked to your liking with a herb butter and fresh mushrooms, tomatoes and onions. Occasionally we serve Chateaubriand Fillet steaks. All of our fish is fresh and MSC certified. We might serve Hake or Pollack or Haddock or Mullet or Mackerel. We might just simply grill or fry it or we might try something a little more adventurous such as a Fish Tagine or Spiced Monkfish with a Creamy Vegetable Curry.
Lunch on Sunday wouldn't be the same without a roast. You can choose from Roast Beef or Roast Pork Belly with vegetables, roast potatoes and all the trimmings.
